Koha JonëKOHA JONË, the independent daily founded on May 11, 1991, holds decades of print history that lived only on paper. We built a WordPress-powered archive that digitises every issue — from 26 papers in 1991 to hundreds per year through the 90s — and makes each cover and date explorable online.
The challenge
Decades of newspaper history were locked in physical copies with no way to explore or search them — researchers and readers couldn’t find past issues, names or events, and there was no central, readable home for the collection. We digitised the archive into a searchable WordPress platform with protected in-browser reading and free accounts.
Visitors browse issues by year, month and day with covers and dates for every edition, run full-text search across all digitised numbers to find articles, names and events, and — with a free account, including Google login — read complete issues page by page right in the browser with no downloads. Original PDFs stay protected, and secure archive access, date browsing and text search come with every free registration.
